Winners will be announced at the 2012 MAACCE Olympics-- One Conference, One Goal in June. Nominations deadline is May 1, 2012 The Don Fancher Outstanding Educator Award Nominee must be a member of MAACCE at time of nomination and have served a minimum of five years in adult, continuing, or community education. The Don Fancher Outstanding Educator Award is presented to a member who shows a commitment to excellence in practice and a dedication to students and constituents. Nominees will have contributed to research and/or improved practice. The award winner shows evidence of sustained interest in the field and a commitment to the philosophy and advocacy of adult education principles. Distinguished Service Award This award is given to a MAACCE member who has given a solid contribution of sustained service in the field of adult, continuing or community education. Nominees will have contributed to improved delivery of adult education and served as a mentor or resource to colleagues and practitioners in the field. This person has made an effort to promote MAACCE at the local, state, or national level and exhibits a continued commitment to preserving excellence of practice. Nominee must be a member of MAACCE at time of nomination and have served a minimum of ten years or more in the field. Special Achievement Award This award is given to a MAACCE member who has helped improve practice or delivery of adult, continuing, or community education. Nominees will have demonstrated a positive impact on and betterment of an individual, community, or constituent base. Nominees will have contributed to innovation in the development or delivery of practice. Nominee must be a member of MAACCE at the time of nomination. Please include the date and a description of special achievement. Award of Merit This award is presented to an organization or individual who demonstrated an active interest in promoting and developing adult, continuing, or community education. Nominees will have exhibited dedication to the advancement of constituents and individuals in the field through a commitment to the philosophy of adult education practices and employed the use of adult education and principles through programming and leadership in adult, continuing, and community education. Nominee does not have to be a MAACCE member. The Newcomer of the Year Award Nominee must be a member of MAACCE at the time of nomination and have been a member for less than five years. The Newcomer of the Year Award is given to an individual who exhibits enthusiasm and willingness to serve in the field and practice of adult, continuing, and community education. Candidates should exhibit interest and investment in personal continued learning and development as a practitioner. Other attributes include a willingness to consult other professionals and networks to further personal learning and growth plus a level of innovation in the promotion of adult, continuing, or community education. The Hovland Award This award is designed to provide MAACCE members with the opportunity to undertake a special project with some financial support for expenses. The award may be used by itself or in combination with other resources to improve practice in adult, continuing, or community education. Nominee must be a member of MAACCE at time of nomination.
